Ethical Dilemma – Chapter 4

If we will just read carefully every detail that is written in the ethical dilemma, we can no doubt say that Alice is in a very difficult situation wherein she must think thoroughly and make the correct decisions because those decisions will greatly affect her life in the future. Well, as we all know, we should be the one that should make our own decision however; the case is not always like that. We should also consider things that make it legal to avoid future troubles and inconveniences. Both sides have their own lapses; it is not just Alice that made the wrong move but also the group of the companies that she needs in order to ask permission to reproduce diagrams of her work. In order for Alice to make a replica of the diagrams that she needs, she must pay big amount which is not so reasonable knowing that the diagrams are old. On the other hand, Alice should not plagiarize the diagrams for there are still lots of ways to make other that plagiarizing it. By making a new and fresh diagram while getting the idea from the old diagram, there is a chance that she will not be accused that she copied it because she was the one who made it. Or another thing that she could have done to avoid problems is by simply not putting any diagrams and eradicating it all in her textbook. Meanwhile, in the software’s case like taking a person’s code, modifying it a little and represent it as your own work, as long as you have the permission to perform alterations on it, then you are free to do it.
